The First Time: the MUSEUM FOR URBAN CONTEMPORARY ART opens its doors for the Long Night of Museums

Just a few weeks before the official opening, an exhibition at the Production Office of URBAN NATION and live painting events in Bülowstrasse on 19 August 2017 whet the appetite for the soon-to-be-inaugurated URBAN NATION MUSEUM FOR URBAN CONTEMPORARY ART.

A première before the opening! Taking part in the Long Night of Museums for the very first time, the URBAN NATION MUSEUM FOR URBAN CONTEMPORARY ART invites visitors to look back at events gone by and to look forward to the upcoming museum.

The exhibition of works made until now for the Project M/ series is taking place on 19 August in the Production Office, Bülowstrasse 97. The retrospective of works created over the last four years in conjunction with the Project M/ series is being presented by the Australian artist James Reka. The exhibition series was and is at the core of URBAN NATION’s work under executive director Yasha Young, who has earned plaudits on both the domestic and international art scenes. The exhibition boasts works by established greats of the scene (including Shepard Fairey and Daan Botlek) and newcomers. Like the museum which opens soon, the focus of the Long Night will be on the street as a place of reference and exhibition venue: outside the door of the URBAN NATION Production Office, visitors can watch the nighttime live painting of new murals under the motto “Beyond Bülowstrasse”.

From 6 pm, executive director Yasha Young and commercial director Dr. Christopher Vorwerk will whet the appetite for the upcoming URBAN NATION MUSEUM FOR CONTEMPORARY ART. They will be on hand in Bülowstrasse 97 to provide information about the concept of the museum, which opens on 16 September and about events planned for the opening weekend.
