Experience Urban Art at home: The URBAN NATION Museum now offers an online guided tour

  • by Stefan Fellechner

Unfortunately the URBAN NATION MUSEUM FOR URBAN CONTEMPORARY ART is closed until May 4th, 2020, due to the current corona situation. Nevertheless, interested people and fans of Urban Art can dive deeper into the museums’s latest exhibition “UN-derstand – the power of art as a social architect”. On his tour through the museum, art educator Markus Georg will present selected works by internationally renowned Urban Art artists to the audience. He provides extensive background knowledge and explains exciting details about the biography, approach and technique of the artists and their works.

During the approximately 25-minute tour, the exhibits of the following artists* are presented: D*FACE, Nychos, Martin Whatson, Shepard Fairey, Swoon, Vhils and THE LONDON POLICE. There will also be an insight into the exhibition space of the Martha Cooper Library.

“A museum and an exhibition without visitors naturally causes us headaches as mediators of art and culture. We absolutely want the exhibited works of the artists of Urban Art and Street Art to continue to be visible and available to the public. Therefore we are now offering a new format with our digital tour. We are enthusiastic about the wealth of information that Markus Georg conveys about selected positions and we hope for an equally enthusiastic audience in the URBAN NATION Museum, which is now virtually accessible,” says Jan Sauerwald, director of the URBAN NATION Museum.

The free online guide is now available in German (with English subtitles) at urban-nation.com/digital-tour.
Jan Sauerwald is available for interviews. If you are interested, please contact us at pr@urban-nation.com.
