Thanks to the Berlin Life Foundation, the Children’s Culture Month (KinderKulturMonat) was celebrated at the URBAN NATION Museum and Satellite Gallery! On the weekends in October, children had free access to participatory and creative workshops.
In the workshop Colorful Bubbles Everywhere, held in the URBAN NATION Museum’s workspace, participants received instructions on how to design bulbous graffiti letters and bring them to life with a homemade stencil. Spray paint and pens were used to create vibrant letters! Monsters, letters surrounded by birds, flowers and hearts, pulsating and floating, were painted on tote bags to take home.
The children were encouraged not only to be creative, but also to express their own ideas in a self-determined way. And, of course, they went home with a new perspective on the city and its surroundings: who hasn’t seen graffiti letters that look like balloons on a walk through the city?

The workshop Underwater Worlds took place at the URBAN NATION Satellite Gallery in Neukölln. The children explored the deep sea and discovered the exciting animal and plant world under water. New picture books were read together to find out who is at home in the water. Then the children dove into the sea of crafts and created their own underwater world: a colorful aquarium, a fun flip book, or a personalized gift card.
