Floating Mural by Fabifa

As part of the Floating Murals series at the Bülow Street Festival, hosted by URBAN NATION, Fabifa’s mural “Berlin Balance” stood out as as a visual metaphor for the contrasts and commonalities in the city. The color-intensive work thematizes the different districts and lifestyles of Berlin, formally implemented through the symbolism of a yin-yang sign. Surrounded by a bright yellow ring representing the Berlin Ringbahn (S-Bahn), the mural connects various districts of the city with a symbolic railroad line that runs through the center.

On the right is a portrait of a girl from Kreuzberg’s alternative scene, surrounded by iconic Kreuzberg landmarks: a squat, the famous Berghain club and Kottbusser Tor. On the left, a businessman from Charlottenburg represents a contrasting counter-world, with the KaDeWe department store and modern, towering buildings on the edge of his half of the circle.

This dynamic yet balanced composition by @tape_fabifa captures the essence of Berlin – a city of dualities that coexist and thrive together.
