Community Wall by Sinan Dur – Respect

  • by Constanze von Marlin

For his Community Wall in Falkenhagener Feld, Sinan Dur explored the theme of neighborhood. At the center of the mural is a young woman wearing distinctive sunglasses, surrounded by a vibrantly colored urban scene that captures the character of the neighborhood: typical buildings from the large housing complex and urban spaces with trees. Terms such as “neighborhood,” “my hood,” and “respect” link the motif to central concepts of coexistence and belonging.

The mural was created as part of the neighborhood festival on August 28, 2026. Residents—especially children and teenagers—enthusiastically participated in its design. Sinan Dur ultimately completed the mural in his signature style. The Community Wall is part of Stadtraum!Plus’s commitment to the Falkenhagener Feld neighborhood. It demonstrates how urban art can engage with a specific location and, through collaborative artistic work, transform it into an expression of the neighborhood. Sinan Dur has been working as a graffiti and street artist since the 1990s and often combines his artistic work with participatory projects.
