Biography / Ben Slow

Ben Slow, or simply SLOW, is a UK artist from London, who creates beautiful dichromatic mural portraits of men and women in urban and social environments. Experimenting a lot, using different materials for his black and white portraits, he creates dramatic murals that touch on both, abstract and figurative style. Ben Slow has collaborated with URBAN NATION by contributing his works on a Community Wall project in 2018.

Unlike many street artists who develop into fine arts, SLOW, a graduate of UCA Canterbury, became disillusioned with fine arts and transitioned into working on large scale murals on the streets in the late 2000’s. As an artist, he gets inspiration from the vibrancy of London’s neighbourhoods and its eclectic mix of cultures, as well as from all the colourful characters he meets on his travels. The latter often become the centrepiece of his iconic murals. Focusing on celebrating local personalities that might be unknown to outsiders but have had a positive effect on their community, he perpetuates their faces on walls for all to see.
