Chie Yoshii was born in Kochi, Japan, in 1974. In 2000 she completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Massachusetts College of Art and deepened her knowledge in a six-year study with realist painter Adrian Gottlieb from 2002 till 2008. The brushstrokes or the luminosity combined with modern elements like subtle symbolism and compelling presence of figures. Her ‘enigmatic images embody contradicting elements such as novelty and nostalgia, innocence and sexuality, strength and fragility, mirroring the complexity of our psyche.’ Yoshii, who lives and works in Los Angeles, has exhibited her paintings in several groups and solo shows in galleries worldwide.
