Biography / Denis Cherim
Denis Cherim is a Romanian born self-taught photographer who grew up in Madrid, Spain. He studied a MA Graphic Printing, Illustration and Artistic Mintage at the Engraving and Graphic Design School of the Royal Mint of Spain. Curious by nature, he found in photography a perfect tool and ally in capturing the impressive story of our not always impressive reality. Through the years he has developed his very own photographic style which leaded to several photographic series and various artistic residencies. His photography has become a statement about his philosophy and understanding of the world.
About the project
Denis Cherim is interested in dualism and what influences people’s minds, perceptions and decision making. With his project Your Confusion, My Illusion, he artistically attempts to show reality as surreal and the surreal as our reality. Appreciating the seemingly “un-appreciable,” he challenges the viewer’s perception by depicting ordinary sceneries and everyday situations that combine the visible and the invisible, the logical and the illogical. His photographs capture the hidden poetry of the city and invite the viewer to un-label the “known” so that they can discover the deeper layer in the reality that surrounds them.
