Biography / Jacub Gagnon

Jacub Gagnon is surely one of Toronto’s great emerging contemporary artists. Best known for his quest to emphasize the unusual fauna, Jacub has created such a specific art style. His nature inspired surrealistic imagery comes alive, due to the amazing technique he applies. Jacub Gagnon’s works are featured as a part of the opening of URBAN NATION Museum in 2017.

Jacub obtained his BFA at the Ontario College of Art and Design in 2009. His works are strongly influenced by Salvador Dali, which has definitely given him a wonderful direction towards creating his own unique style. His technique of blending, layering and capturing the remarkable details tell an amazing story that at first glance appears sweet but one can see that there is a bit of bitterness. This being said, maybe he is one of the few that displays how humanity mistreats nature manipulates it and borrows from it. His eye for detail goes so far that his artwork looks as if it was pencil drawn. Not only a great artist but also a great person down to his desire and motivation to learn from others, to take what inspires him and apply it in his own way.
