Austrian and French street artists Jana & Js are painting together since 2006. They use the technic of stencil which they discovered in the streets of Madrid where they were living and which they improved later with Artiste-ouvrier in Paris (www.artiste-ouvrier.fr/). Mostly inspired by the city and people living in, their paintings merge urban landscape or architecture details with portrait through some kind of mirror game, 'mise-en-abyme' or transparency, questioning the place of human being in the modern cities. Photography is another important aspect of their work, marked with the portraits of photographers they often paint in the streets.
Their outdoor interventions tend to interact with the environment and introduce some kind of dialog with the people.
During the past few years they have been part of exhibitions and projects in France, Austria, England, Spain, Belgium, Hungaria, Croatia, USA, Germany, United States, Russia and China.
Jana & Js are now living and working near Salzburg - Austria.
