Jana & JS create polychromatic stencil murals ranging in size and based on their own photographic work. Cities and people living in cities, merging urban landscapes or architecture with portraits, inspire their stencil-works. Jana & JS choose old materials for their stencils as they symbolize the passing of physical time and history. Also public places like old buildings are their favourite spots as they display the ephemeral as well as the never-completed environment, which is why they merge their subjects with in their urban interventions. As members of the stencil artist collective Working Class Artists, Jana & JS are always questioning the place of human being in modern cities and inspired by new places, Jana & JS spent years in Madrid and Paris before moving to their current home base Salzburg, Austria.
