Benz’s first contact with art was an exhibition of Paul Cezanne that she visited with her parents at the age of three. Twenty years later, she was confronted with one of the paintings and able to remember her fascination. Since then she has created her very own moniker to her works using figurative to conceptual art by overlapping layers without pre-conception or composition, a mode of operation that symbolizes her deep trust in the process of work. Today Julia Benz lives and works in Berlin and has exhibited her artwork in several shows since 2012.
