Jumu Monster (Jurena Muñoz) is a Berlin-based artist with Peruvian-Chilean roots. In her powerful works, she combines indigenous spirituality, shamanism and the cosmovision of the Andean peoples with contemporary urban art. Her works – large-format murals, masks, canvases and performances – create visual worlds that seek a dialog between humans, nature and the spirit world.
Having grown up in Hanover and trained in fashion design, Jumu developed visual forms of expression and a symbolic visual language that is influenced by her Latin American roots. These cultural and spiritual references merge with her urban, often color-intensive and geometrically structured visual language to create an unmistakable style.
