Biography / MR. WOODLAND

Mr Woodland was born and raised in Bavaria, Erding in Germany. Influenced by train writing and hip-hop he started his artistic career as ‘MONO’ in 1993 at the age of 12. In 2004 he stopped painting letters, changed his pseudonym to Mr Woodland and switched in style from letters to dark characters on canvas or murals. His works are featured in the URBAN NATION 2018 exhibition, ‘UN-DERSTAND The Power of Art as a Social Architect’.

From 2012 to 2014 Daniel Westermeier aka Mr Woodland studied graphic design in Munich, but as an artist he is self-educated from the very beginning. Becoming Mr Woodland, his graffiti influences developed to a mixture of contemporary painting, graphic fragments and surrealism. While he used spray cans in his early years, he is developing his style as a freelance artist with brushes and paint rollers. Inspired by traditional painting, graphic design and nature, his artworks in dark colours create a special tension fort he viewer. Mr Woodland left his artistic traces at several places all over Europe, in the streets and in exhibitions.
