Biography / Raemann

Raemann is a photographing, filming and wheat-pasting artist duo from New York City with the intent to depict the absurdity of commercialization and their passion for surfing sensitized them for the condition of our planet and its environmental degradation. Raemann’s works can be found on their collaboration with URBAN NATION on Project M/1 in 2014.

Raemann share a background in fine art, but both members of the artistic collaboration know the advertising side of the medal, too. As a consequence, their art is dealing with these menacing topics in films and wheat-pasted photographs, mostly shot in black and white to amplify the dark scenario lying in front of us due to plastic pollution of the oceans and water privatizations at the same time. As described in an interview, Raemann’s art as a clear analysis of reality is like ‘having a look into the near future beyond time and space’ and needed to raise consciousness about the absurdity of the earth’s resources commercialization and the waste involved in doing so.
