British artist Will Barras is an illustrator and animation director from Birmingham. His figurative paintings either on paper or canvas is characterised by his distinguished style. Will employs techniques like using expressive, bold strokes of paint and fluid lines, creating stories where the female subjects are the focus in a predominant role. Will’s works are featured in the URBAN NATION 2018 exhibition, ‘UN-DERSTAND The Power of Art as a Social Architect’.
Beginning his artistic career back in Bristol where he moved from his native town to study Graphic Design. His interests then diverted to street art after his studies that then put him among the community of young innovative artists in the renown and respected urban art scene in Bristol. Barras is known for his unique narrative-driven compositions and line work, remarkable brush strokes, along with the use a colourful palette gives an impression of weighted energy. The backdrop in some of his works of art can keep a dark and intimidating to some, Will then likes to add resplendent colours in images to liven the image by heightening contrast and making the art seem as if it bursts out from the canvas.
