ONE WALL by ASKEW ONE

The temporary ONE WALL by Askew One for URBAN NATION at Stargarder Str. 82 in Berlin is an impressive example of the versatility and creativity of the artist from Auckland, New Zealand. The mural showcases the characteristic blend of figurative and abstract elements that Askew One refers to as his post-graffiti style. Askew One has collaborated with URBAN NATION on Project M/9 in 2016.

A central element of the mural is a face into which abstract patterns are harmoniously integrated. Above it lies a green band that creates a second, abstract layer of the image. The color palette consists of these bold, vibrant lines and, beneath them, subtler shades in the area. The composition is both complex and harmonious, with clear lines and shapes that merge with organic, flowing patterns.

“Portraits with alternative possibilities of viewing” is how Askew One describes motifs like this ONE WALL. His technique developed during his teenage years through style writing, which has remained his most consistent inspiration to this day. His works include portraits, texts, abstractions, and explorations of the urban environment, balancing aesthetic and conceptual aspects.
