One Wall by Age Age

The mural Streethouse Unlimited transforms the façade of the youth center Streethouse into a vibrant and community-driven artwork. Developed by the artist AGE AGE in close collaboration with local youth during an on-site workshop, the mural reflects collective ideas and lived experiences. Through this participatory process, themes of identity, diversity, and a strong sense of community were translated into a dynamic visual narrative.

At the center of the composition stands the “Super-Sami-Robot,” a multi-armed figure symbolizing Samy, the youth center’s long-serving director. His central presence acknowledges both his personal significance and the collective efforts of the entire staff. Each of the robot’s arms performs a different function, representing everyday activities offered at Streethouse—from playing soccer and table tennis to preparing food and offering emotional support. One arm lifts a dumbbell labeled “Family,” referencing the youth center’s vital role in fostering social cohesion, regardless of age or background.

A stylized urban skyline stretches across the background, directly referencing the surrounding neighborhood. The buildings are brought to life with expressive, friendly faces—two of them embracing—serving as visual metaphors for solidarity, togetherness, and a positive communal spirit.

Around ten young people actively participated in the realization of the mural, contributing both creatively and practically. The completion of the artwork was celebrated with a communal meal prepared by the participants, reinforcing the social dimension of the project and strengthening connections within the neighborhood.

Streethouse Unlimited stands as a testament to the power of participatory art to reshape public space while affirming shared values of creativity, inclusion, and community. The project was realized as part of the Stadtraum!Plus program by the foundation Berliner Leben in cooperation with Gewobag.
