Alexandra Oancea is a Romanian Visual Artist, based in Rome, Italy. She graduated Scenography at the National University of Theater Arts and Cinematography from Bucharest, Romania, after studying Fine Arts. As a Scenographer she worked in different theatres, for short- movies and in TV projects in Romania and abroad. She was part of the 2019 URBAN NATION Artist in Residence Scholarship Program Fresh A.I.R. in Berlin.
Oancea searches for inspiration in masters like Rembrandt or in the unique world created by Hieronymus Bosch, trying to always give importance to the light and the atmosphere of a painting. Through her works she uses human portraits not for representing a specific person, but to illustrate feelings, problems of our society and of our daily life, and so they are becoming characters. She calls them Portraits of Feelings.
As a visual artist Alexandra Oancea was part of various collective and personal exhibitions in Romania, Italy, Germany, Denmark, Czech Republic, Spain. In 2018 the artwork White Mouse was digitally exposed at Art Fair Singapore by Bbuzz Art Gallery. In 2019 she was digitally exposed at One Self exhibition, ChaShaMa Gallery, New York.
