Working under the pseudonym Bill Posters, Barnaby Francis is an artist, author, activist and disinformation-researcher. Using a network-based approach, his artistic work interrogates persuasion architecture and power relations as they exist in public space and online.
His pieces are collaborations that span across the arts, sciences and advocacy fields on conceptual, interventionist, synthetic, digital, photography and installation-based projects. In 2019 his synthetic (deep
fake) artworks featuring Mark Zuckerberg went viral, leading to global press coverage and unexpected – and contradictory – official responses from Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
Posters founded StudioNeural in 2019, a new media and art production company specialising in the application of new technologies and AI in the fields of art, advocacy, journalism and television. StudioNeural was the first company in the world to offer broadcast-quality synthetic media for long-form TV.
His work entitled “BIG DADA | PUBLIC FACES” in collaboration with Daniel Howe can be seen in the current exhibition “Talking…& Other Banana Skins“.
