Christian Böhmer, who is also known as ‘Mr.Trash’, is a German graffiti, street- and urban artist from Cologne. He is known for his very detailed and realistic looking ‘Paper Bag Heads’ art works, which he applies as, paste ups, painted or sprayed. Christian Böhmer has collaborated with URBAN NATION by contributing his works on a Community Wall project in 2018.
An autodidact, Böhmer taught himself how to write graffiti as a teenager, working on his style in an old warehouse that served as a legal graffiti playground. Despite never making street art his main occupation, the professional interior designer continued to produce art on walls and canvas after hours. Over the years he developed an interest in creating art that carried a more profound meaning, which was when ‘Paper Bag Heads’ came to life. With their heads covered by paper bags, Böhmer’s illustrations of humans pursuing every day tasks are his medium of critically approaching contemporary and societal issues, like balancing self-portrayal and anonymity in a world that has become more and more superficial.
