Biography / Claudio Ethos

Brazilian artist Claudio Rafael, better known as Claudio Ethos, creates large-scale surreal murals using a minimal colour palette. Ethos large-scale murals often depict anxious, struggling figures in urban surroundings, his characters depict emotional and spiritual states and his works are featured as a part of the opening of URBAN NATION Museum in 2017.

Claudio Ethos was born in Sao Paulo in 1982. Surrounded by Sao Paulo tag style Pichacao his interest in graffiti grew in the 1990s. At the age of 15 he started spraying and sketching in books and on canvases with a ballpoint pen. Two years after entering a college for visual arts he decided to leave formal education and simply work as an artist. As he says, he wants to “depict emotional and spiritual states because there are no accurate definitions for so many of these sensations“. Ethos artworks can be seen in streets all over the world and he had already several solo and group exhibitions all over Europe.
