Spirituality and consciousness are central elements of the South Californian artist, Cryptik and his artworks. Whether acrylic on multi-layered wood panels, canvas or as murals, his works are truly mesmerising. Cryptiks works are featured in the URBAN NATION 2018 exhibition, ‘UN-DERSTAND The Power of Art as a Social Architect’.

Cryptik from Los Angeles combines iconic, mandala-like illustrations of deities and spiritual leaders with his unique style of calligraphy to offer people new and different perspectives. Being interviewed about his intentions, Cryptik answers almost completely in line with the idea behind URBAN NATION: “My art is spiritual in nature. I always felt that the work should speak for itself and serve a greater purpose than self-promotion. It’s more important that I get the message out there and I don’t want to get in the way of that. Really, it’s about creating something bigger than myself that anyone can be part of.”
