Biography / CHRISTIAN ROTHENHAGEN / DEERBLN

Christian Rothenhagen also known as deerBLN is a fine artist and designer from Berlin. He is known for architecture focused drawings and installations capturing the changes of Berlin and San Francisco. His work is featured in the URBAN NATION 2018 exhibition, ‘UN-DERSTAND The Power of Art as a Social Architect’.

Christian Rothenhagen’s art is a testament to the transformation of cities. In his paintings, he creates visual pauses for the viewer to contemplate these changes in their own time. The transformative moments that he tries to ‘freeze’ are conveyed through very clean drawings of urban details, very personal and powerful documents of urban perception, realised with perfect line work and using various media like Japanese alcohol pens, ink or graphite. Rothenhagen’s art is mostly presented in galleries, but some of it can also be found in the streets. Over the last two decades, his works have been exhibited in solo and group shows all over the globe.
