Biography / Evol

Berlin-legend Evol’s artistic topic: urban landscapes and buildings. Evol turns rectangular forms like pieces of cardboard or larger concrete blocks outdoors into pieces of ‘art-chitecure’ by adding house-facades onto them. Selected works can be found in Evol’s collaboration with URBAN NATION on Project M/3 in 2014.

Evol is the German capitals’ unofficial archivist: based on his photos of Berlin facades taken during extended city-explorations, Evol creates stencils that are the basis for an artistic transformation of found materials, rectangular pieces of cardboard mutate into small housing blocks, junction boxes on the streets get decorated with hundreds of small windows. Coming from a city in which the topic of gentrification is one of the most talked about matters, Evol’s art is not just decorative, it’s a political statement as well as it is contemporary commentary.
