Jean-Pierre Arboleda was born in Quito, Ecuador. Since his childhood he has been fascinated by animals and nature and loved to draw and paint. As a young adult he moved to New York City, where he studied illustration and fine arts. Arboleda’s paintings encourage us to engage with the effects of humans on the environment. His work can be found on his collaboration with URBAN NATION on Project M/14 in 2019.
Jean Pierre Arboleda’s passion for wild creatures and their habitat is the main theme of his work. The painter deals with questions of evolutionary change, pollution and the effects of war. By giving his animals human qualities, he simultaneously makes their souls visible. Arboleda wants the viewer of his paintings to empathize with the reality of his animal protagonists in order to understand the impact man has on our planet.
