Biography / Katya Craftsova

Katya Craftsova is a multidisciplinary artist with a background in painting (Odessa College of Art, Ukraine) and Graphic Arts and Design (Moscow University of Printing Arts, Russia). Since 2011, she has been doing socially engaged and site-specific projects in different countries, exploring local cultural codes.

About the project

The idea to explore the cultural diversity of Berlin with a focus on typography led her to research a common issue of the city – the problem of housing. The artist would like to interview people with different social and cultural backgrounds to develop a game about “How to find a Wohnung in Berlin”.

Fresh A.I.R. #8 | LINGUISTIC XPEDITION
On October 27, 2023, we celebrate the opening of our exhibition of the Fresh A.I.R. scholars. Twelve artists from eight European countries have dedicated themselves for ten months to this year's theme LINGUISTIC XPEDITION. They investigated the act of speaking as a constitutive element of human perception and communication. The artistic exploration ranges from aspects of everyday language use, verbal language actions, language thinking and language action to the structural power of language.
