The subjects of his paintings have included commercial vehicles, RVs, vans, camper bicycles, and camper karts, all in a state of disrepair and marked by graffiti and rust. His works are featured as a part of the opening of the URBAN NATION Museum in 2017.
Cyr was born in Canada in 1976 and grew up in Maine, US. In 2000, he received a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. His paintings, sculptures and installations have been exhibited in galleries and museums worldwide. Fascinated by vehicles he saw in his childhood, Cyr made them the subject of his paintings also due to their symbolism. ‘I have always been interested in painting vehicles and scenes that have defined the evolution of the American landscape’ as he explains. His solid, brightly coloured backgrounds his vehicles marked by graffiti and rust, create a synergy of art and decay, connecting themes like mobility, mortality, and sustainability and consumer culture.
