Maja Tomaszewska is a Polish artist. The focus of her works are people, capturing the moment, expression, emotion, portraying cultural diversity. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Poland and at the University of Granada, Faculty of Fine Arts, Spain. She was part of the 2019 URBAN NATION Artist in Residence Scholarship Program Fresh A.I.R. in Berlin.
Maja Tomaszewska’s credo:
“What genuinely fascinates me in art is the possibility to grab a fleeting instance – the unique moment we live in. I believe that just with a brush stroke that perfectly hits the nail on the head I can show authenticity that has more strength and meaning than artwork developed slowly. Los ojos son el espejo del alma („The eyes are the mirror of a soul”) is a Spanish saying that encapsulates my artistic ethos. For the artist it takes eye contact with the person being portrayed to create a real connection and understanding, and that contact is my biggest thrill in creation.”
She had a number of solo and group exhibitions in Spain, Poland, Germany, the USA and the Ukraine.
