Biography / MISS VAN

French born and Barcelona based artist Vanessa Alice Bensimon, also known as Miss Van, is considered one of the best female graffiti artists of her time. Her eroticized female form called ‘Poupées’ and the portrayal of their turbulent emotions have become her signature aesthetic and can be found in cities around the globe.Apart from other projects Miss Van’s works are featured in the URBAN NATION 2018 exhibition, ‘UN-DERSTAND The Power of Art as a Social Architect’.

Initiating the feminine street art movement in the early 90’s, Miss Van recently returned to her passion after spending several years painting in her studio.  While her work on canvas is mostly grotesque and dark, her outdoor pieces are often times more cheery and colourful. Her human-animal hybrids are often portrait within a ‘joie de vivre’ setting, dancing, singing or simply enjoying life and have been shown in galleries and museums among some of the most successful contemporary artists.
