Biography / Redd Walitzki

Redd Walitzki was born in Germany but has lived and worked in the US for many years. They studied art in Seattle with a focus on painting and create elaborate works whose protagonists are inspired by the glamour of high fashion as well as by the problem of environmental destruction by humans. Walitzki’s art has been shown in numerous exhibitions in North America and abroad and has been featured in magazines. Their work can be found on their collaboration with URBAN NATION on Project M/14 in 2019.

Walitzki’s oeuvre combines oil painting, mixed media and cutting edge technology. In the first step, the working process begins with a preliminary drawing with watercolors to determine the composition and texture. It is then transferred to a panel on rice paper, lasercut and finished with oil glazes. A large part of the artist’s work is influenced by the lush rain forests of the Pacific Northwest and the artistic baroque ornaments of Walitzki’s native Bavaria.
