Sebastian Heiner (born 1964 in Berlin) is a contemporary painter renowned for his dynamic abstract works. He studied at the Berlin University of the Arts from 1984 to 1991, becoming a master student under Klaus Fußmann. In 1986, he attended a summer academy led by Wolf Vostell in Spain.

Heiner’s paintings are characterized by thick oil applications, expressive gestures, and the use of unconventional tools. His style is influenced by Art Informel, Tachisme, and Action Painting. Since 2004, he has spent extended periods in Asian cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Bangkok, and Seoul.

While primarily focused on abstraction, Heiner has explored figurative elements since 2018, viewing them as a transition toward abstraction.
