Biography / SellFable

Daniel van Nes, otherwise known as SellFable. Is an artist born in Terneuzen, Netherlands and lives in Rotterdam. He has produced multidisciplinary works including illuminated engravings, drawings, paintings, installations, performances and virtual reality. SellFable has cooperated with URBAN NATION in several Project M/s and is also part of the class of 2018 in the URBAN NATION Artist in Residence Programme.

After graduating from the Royal Academy of Arts in Antwerp, SellFable was nominated Dutch artist of the year in 1997. His installations have been showcased worldwide in galleries from Berlin to London and New York. His works incorporate centuries-old techniques of copper and wood engraving. Transposed to modern materials, he has developed a new technique called ‘illuminated engravings’, which reflect upon social and technological developments in a modern day industrial world and concepts such as identity and reality. In ‘Machine Noir’ settings, he illuminates an undefined futuristic world. SellFable has also curated the award winning ‘BLOOOM’ the creative industries art show in Cologne, Germany for two consecutive years in 2010 and 2011.
