URBAN NATION PROUDLY PRESENTS: PROJECT M/13 “THE MONSTER PROJECT”

On August 17th,  monsters will take possession of the Production Office of the URBAN NATION MUSEUM FOR URBAN CONTEMPORARY ART. The reason is the exhibition opening of the PROJECT M / 13: THE MONSTER PROJECT.

Four weeks before the vernissage, a crowd of young artists stormed the Production Office of the URBAN NATION Museum at Bülowstraße 97 and let their creativity run wild. The occasion was the cooperation of the URBAN NATION MUSEUM FOR URBAN CONTEMPORARY ART with the Texan ‘The Monster Project‘. Over 74 children between the ages of five and twelve from 17 different Berlin institutions participated in the campaign and painted big, small, funny, scary, colorful and very imaginative monsters.

“The joint workshop has exceeded all our expectations and confirms to us once more that the collaboration of ‘The Monster Project’ and URBAN NATION could not have been more suitable. The collaboration of cultural institutions/social projects with the public is an important building block of art and cultural promotion. It was amazing to see how the children transformed their ideas into colourful pictures and how overwhelmingly the artists reacted to them. We are pleased to be able to share 50 of the monster artworks with the public in the upcoming exhibition on 17 August,” said Katie Johnson, founder of The Monster Project and Yasha Young, director of the URBAN NATION museum.

After the workshop Katie Johnson, founder of  ‘The Monster Project’ and Yasha Young, director of the URBAN NATION Museum, selected 50 artworks from the kids. These will be interpreted and brought to life over the next four weeks by local and international artists.

The pictures of the children and artists will be presented in a joint exhibition in the URBAN NATION Production Office at Bülowstraße 97 on 17.08.2018 from 6 to 11 pm during the MuseumSummer in Berlin. The unique art will be sold via the website of The Monster Project for a good cause and will support the continuing work of  ‘The Monster Project’ and the childrens hospice ‘Berliner Herz’.
