Biography / Steff Plaetz

British painter and part-time DJ, Steff Plaetz first started painting during the mid ’90s in the English city of Bristol. His brush and stencil work is often based on a loose and spontaneous freehand style that carries over into the look of his art and resembles the roughness and dynamic of a sketch. Steff has collaborated with URBAN NATION on various ventures, one being the M/5 project in 2014.

Being born and raised in the ’80s, Steff’s works are heavily influenced by dystopian and sci-fi elements, combining ideas of bleak futuristic-industrial landscapes and dream-like snapshots of urban activity.

Apart from producing original paintings and exhibiting his work all over the world, his artistry is frequently commissioned by many of he world’s leading creative and advertising agencies to work as a commercial illustrator or storyboard artist.

Steff has exhibited in Tokyo, New York, Osaka, Paris, Hong Kong, Brussels, Barcelona, Glasgow, Cologne and of course his home London, and has been commissioned by Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown, singer Michael Stipe and David Holmes among others.
