Ted Pim is an Irish artist of who’s beautifully crafted paintings can be found in abandoned buildings. Based in Belfast, Ted’s works are created in dark rooms using derelict walls, paints, torches and a camera; working for days alone in this building he creates images that reference the Old Masters. Not much is known about Ted apart from the notions that his works have an incredible likeness to the intricate works of Rembrandt, Jacques-Louis David and other legends of the 19th Century classical arts. The paintings are smudged leaving a weathered look, yet still retains its beauty.
The uncommon setting invokes a weird, ominous and evangelical atmosphere when observing the image, a mix of magnificence and grandeur with disrepair and decrepitude, in being aware of the strikingly elegant images in a timeworn and wrinkled capsule.
