Biography / TEZZ KAMOEN

Tezz Kamoen is a Dutch visual artist, living and working in London. Inspired by memory and photo collages, she explores processes of manipulation and social influence – referencing pop culture, psychoanalysis and her personal surroundings.

The work of Kamoen aims to understand how food culture is rooted in memory, and its repercussions for social binding as represented within everyday life and the social interactions, hierarchies and roles within
western society. Conceptually, she explores notions of identity, relationships and stereotyping.

By depicting social constructs, Kamoen creates surreal paintings with a dreamlike quality. Focusing on the in-between space of memory and the lived experience, she creates distorted perceptions of societal norms. Her work “A DOZEN BENDS” is on display in the current exhibition “Talking…& Other Banana Skins“.
