Biography / Virág Bogyó

Virág Bogyó (b. 1987) is a Budapest-based contemporary artist, cultural worker, and researcher with a BA in graphic design and an MA in media design from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design. Recently completing her doctoral studies at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in Budapest, her research focuses on the cultural history of playgrounds, particularly the post-World War II era, contemporary reflections, experimental pedagogy, and feminist approaches. Known for her participatory, research-based approach, Virág values interdisciplinary collaboration and has been involved in various art groups throughout her career, often exploring themes related to public space in her works.

About the project

During her scholarship, Virág will research the history of Berlin’s playgrounds with a focus on the post-war period, experimental projects, play actions, and adventure playgrounds. She plans to visit public and private archives and establish relationships with practitioners and researchers in the field. The results of her research will be presented in a publication, but will also be implemented in Virág’s practice in the form of public events and workshops
