Yoann Bourgeois is a French choreographer, dancer and performing artist. Considered a dramatist of physics and ‘nouveau-cirque’ acrobat, his work speaks to the endeavor of perseverance.
His unique research is expressed in physical devices that amplify the phenomena and allow him to create extremely varied spaces, proposing endless variations, in a quest for life, a permanent process of creation that he refers to as: “The Unreachable Suspension Point”.
He founded his company in 2010 after working with renowned choreographers. Director of the CCN2 in Grenoble from 2016 to 2022, he is the first circus artist to head a national institution dedicated to choreographic art. Through creations, collaborations and workshops all over the world, he continues his artistic development.
The performative installations of Bourgeois seem to defy the forces of gravity and physical strength, and
display a utopian stance on the endurance of humanity. His work “FUGUE TRAMPOLINE” can be seen in the current exhibition” Talking…& Other Banana Skins“.
