333 PORTRAITS AT THE INSIDE OUT PROJECT!

… and just as many posters were printed on the weekend of September 17-18 for the Inside Out Project in front of the URBAN NATION Museum. At the same time, the live-pasting join-in action was running at Mehringdamm 8-12. The facades were pasted with the posters creating a large diverse picture wall in the middle of Berlin.

The people waiting around the Inside Out Truck spread a good mood and showed great interest and a lot of joy about the project. As diverse as Berlin is, so are the people who had their portraits taken. The team from France opened the Photobooth for babies, children, teenagers and young adults up to families including grandparents. Among them were local residents and visitors to the museum. There were also people who happened to be passing by or who had traveled a long way to be part of the project. Different nations and origins, people with and without disabilities took a seat in front of the camera and thus became part of the diverse faces of Berlin on the poster wall.

Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the project and to the Inside Out team on site!

The project FACES OF COMMUNITY is part of the exhibition TALKING… & OTHER BANANA SKINS at the URBAN NATION Museum.

About the Inside Out Project

The Inside Out Project was initiated by the French street art artist “JR“. The project gives a face to communities and people all over the world and helps them to stand up for what they believe in and what they stand for. The project provides impetus to initiate global change locally. Large-format black-and-white portraits of members of a community of members of a community, a neighborhood, etc. are hung in public places. Together, they create a public work of art. In the last ten years more than 400,000 people in 138 countries have participated in the Inside Out Project. The project has reached all continents and more than 2,000 actions have been carried out. The actions have revolved around a range of themes: diversity, community, feminism, racism, climate change, education, children’s rights and art are just some of them. The action focusses on the community, which is why the artist “JR” will not be on site. It’s about the message behind the posters, not the artist.
