URBAN BANANA SOUNDS – The audio guide for and with young people

  • by Geneviève Debien

The project URBAN BANANA SOUNDS – I’ll take the lead! is now completed. After four dates in February and March under the guidance of the two sound artists Heidrun Schramm and Nicolas Wiese from geräusch[mu’si:k], the audio guide for the exhibition TALKING… & OTHER BANANA SKINS has been created! To be heard in three different languages: German, English and French!

The students of the Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Oberschule – partner of the program Stadtraum!Plus of the Stiftung Berliner Leben – have designed this audio guide for our young visitors. Many hours of work and a lot of commitment went into this project, from the compilation of text and sound ideas to the evaluation of field recordings in and around the URBAN NATION Museum to the selection of sound collages for the various chapters and finally the recording of the audio guide.

In the recording studio, the students were able to learn about the work of sound recording and dubbing. Under the guidance of the sound engineers from TON & SPOT, they recorded the texts themselves in German, English and French in order to give visitors an even better understanding of their own texts.

Let us guide you through the URBAN NATION Museum and be among the first to experience the new audio guide URBAN BANANA SOUNDS!
