This year’s Long Night of Museums is themed “Crime in Berlin.” The URBAN NATION Museum for Urban Contemporary Art takes up the theme and invites visitors to reconsider common ideas of crime, rule-breaking, and social norms from the perspective of Urban Contemporary Art.

What is considered legal, and what is illegal? When does appropriation become art, and when does it become a violation of the rules? Urban Contemporary Art has always operated at the boundaries of public space and social conventions.

The program includes guided tours, live painting, and a workshop. Short tours of the exhibition “Love Letters to the City” offer insights into works by more than 50 international artists and their perspectives on the city, society, and public space. Themed tours explore the tension between Urban Art, prohibition, and social participation, as well as the diverse materials and techniques used in Urban Contemporary Art.

During a neighborhood tour along Bülowstraße, visitors can discover large-scale murals created as part of the URBAN NATION initiative and learn more about art in public spaces. In the museum’s courtyard, graffiti artists Age Age and Tomsta will reinterpret the concept of “Crime” through a live-painting session, creating a collaborative work whose final result will remain open until the very last spray.

For the late-night special starting at 11 PM, Berlin graffiti artist Dejoe invites visitors to “No Crime! – Train Sketching and Beats.” Participants can create letters, styles, and motifs on paper or on a pre-sprayed subway surface, accompanied by a DJ set—all following the motto: No Crime, just Style.
