Agata Mendziuk stays in flux in both her life and artistic work. Raised and educated in two culturally distinct regions of Poland (Zagłębie / Silesia), she quickly realized that changing environments enables a better understanding of others and oneself. After graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, she moved to Warsaw, taking an assistant position in a photography studio to further develop her artistic skills. Her next step was creating and exhibiting projects across Europe and the US – traveling to the shows whenever possible to connect with the audience. As part of the Fresh A.I.R. program, Agata fulfilled her dream of continuing this journey in Berlin and engaging with the local creative community.
Agata’s artistic practice revolves around a wide range of social issues, from the importance of family bonds to the impact of technology on human. Constantly seeking new and compelling ways to tell these stories, her work often begins with research and photography, which is later expanded by other media or evolution of the creative process to best convey the project’s message.
Agata is a recipient of scholarships from Stiftung Berliner Leben, Internationales Sommeratelier Aschersleben (DE), Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship, Adam Mickiewicz Institute (PL) and has numerous international solo and group exhibitions to her credit.
About the project
The More human project will focus on the definition of humanity in the context of interactions between people and AI, as well as the desired responsibility for the development of this technology. Through study and collaborations with various creative AIs, the artist will explore how the technological influences the human, and what the human uses the technological for. This work will result in a multifaceted project combining research, lectures on AI, and visual art.
