Under the title “I AM FLUX: The Freedom of Being and the Possibilities of Becoming,” the Artist-in-Residence program Fresh A.I.R. and the Martha Cooper Scholarship by the foundation Berliner Leben present their final exhibition.

Since January 2025, the fellows of the tenth Fresh A.I.R. cohort have been exploring the transformative nature of identity and existence at the intersection of art and technology. Their works question what it means to live in a constantly changing world, to change oneself, and to evolve.

Over the course of the eleven-month residency, twelve international artists have created new works:
Lena Becerra (ITA/ARG), Lena Biresch (GER), Mariana Carranza (URY/GER), Jivan van der Ende (NLD), Julla Kroner (GER), Linda Marwan (GER), Agata Mendziuk (POL), Dylan Mitro (CAN), Hugo Pétigny (FRA), Monika Popiel & Paweł Świerczek (POL), and Mátyás Tóth (HUN).

The works revolve around three thematic fields:

HORIZONS OF BEING – Identity as a dynamic, fluid process. These artistic contributions challenge normative gender roles and explore embodiment and performative self-conceptions beyond fixed definitions.

WHISPERS OF EXISTENCE – The metaphysical dimension of being: questions of visibility and invisibility, presence and absence are explored in poetic and transcendent ways.

BEYOND LIMITS – Transcending traditional boundaries: human-technology interfaces, bodily extensions, dialogues between nature and machine, and historical reconfigurations are artistically investigated.

The exhibition reflects the wide range of contemporary artistic expressions: installations, sculptures, video works, photography, as well as digital media, XR technologies, and immersive formats. These are complemented by painting, hybrid media, performance, sound art, and interactive spatial concepts.

The exhibition is just one facet of the rich creative universe of our fellows. A special opportunity to gain deeper insight into their artistic approaches will be offered during the Open House on November 8, 2025, where visitors can get exclusive glimpses into the artists’ projects and working processes.
