Biography / CRAWW

At the beginning of his career British artist Shaun Friend worked as a passionate graphic designer in advertising agencies. He was in his mid-forties when he adopted the alias CRAWW and returned to his roots as a draughtsman. His art is dedicated to the beauty of contradictions; life and death, strength and fragility, and the interplay of forces of nature. His work can be found on his collaboration with URBAN NATION on Project M/14 in 2019.

CRAWW’s art is an endless investigation of nature. His protagonists, most of whom are women, are surrounded by flowing lines and organic forms. The artist uncovers ambiguous connections and hidden narratives. In each picture, he devotes himself to a certain story that becomes independent during the working process. The result is an oeuvre that allows for individual interpretations, raises questions and encourages the viewer to participate. With successful shows in Great Britain and the US, CRAWW has found collectors and fans all over the world.
