Clovis’ porcelain sculptures are imbued with a combination of mythological, historical and religious references. After her first very colorful works, the artist has now developed a largely monochrome oeuvre that explores modern themes through Baroque forms. Through the use of porcelain, she confronts her deeply contemporary vision of art with a traditional medium. Clovis, however, does not stop at the three-dimensionality of her sculptures – she uses the additional possibilities of china painting to preserve the connection to drawing.
