Belgian graphic artist Katrien Vanderlinden originally began her career as a television and art director. The artist first felt the impulse to design murals when she moved into a new flat. After an unsuccessful search for suitable wallpapers, she took it upon herself to paint the children’s rooms. The enthusiastic response of friends and family to the colourful images encouraged Vanderlinden to explore the idea further and shift her professional focus to it. Since then, Vanderlinden’s murals have adorned countless homes.
Starting in 2017, Vanderlinden moved on to transfer the vertical murals to horizontal floor surfaces. And what could be more suitable for this than sports fields? She created the first of her so-called Hypecourts in Aalst, Belgium.
