Biography / Marina ZUMI

Argentinian native and Berlin based artist Marina Zumi is known for her extra large, colourful murals covering entire buildings in cosmic-like illustrations. Working with mostly spray cans she tries to create delicate and gentle images that counter the roughness of concrete walls. One of her most astonishing pieces can be found in URBAN NATION’S Bülowstrasse 101 and was part of a ONE WALL project.

Drawing inspiration from nature, cosmos, sacred geometry, quantic theory and day to day life, Zumi combines idealized versions of animals, vegetation and nocturnal scenes for the creation of her very own natural bio-luminescent landscapes, with which Zumi aims to provide oases of serenity among the crowded and noisy city streets. With a background in fashion design the self-taught artist, who was one of only a few female members of the experimental street art group ‘Expression Sessions’ over the years developed a style that is both feminine and colourful.
