Biography / Naoto Hattori

Naoto Hattori was born in 1975 in Yokohama, southern Japan. During regular trips to Tokyo, which was not far away, he was already impressed by the street art and graffiti scene of the capital when he was a child. As a teenager Hattori was fascinated by the possibilities of graphic design, and after finishing school he moved to New York City where he studied illustration. His work can be found on his collaboration with URBAN NATION on Project M/14 in 2019.

Due to the multitude of different influences, Hattori succeeded in creating his own visual dictionary, which he applies to his images. His characteristic style can be seen in all his works. Hattori’s dreamlike world pays tribute to the painting of the surrealist artist Salvador Dalì, whose work he has been interested in for many years. Hattori was shown in solo and group exhibitions worldwide. He has also been featured in many international magazines.
