Biography / OX

OX is the pseudonym of a France billboards artist. Inspired by the Pop Culture and the work of Faucheur, he uses some of the biggest canvasses to express his minimalist ideas full with sense of parody and satire, building them with the environment; best example for this coming from his series of work entitled ‘Affichages’. Ox’s works are featured as a part of the opening of the URBAN NATION Museum in 2017.

OX studied at the Arts Déco School in Paris in 1983. At that time, he took part in the making of the Blank magazine. He was part of a small like-minded artist group inspired by Bazooka and Faucheur’s work. His early work included a lot of print, photocopy, which transformed into live performances painting. Being aware of the strange appearance of the billboards, his goal is to always bland them in the environment by using what he does best, optical illusions and color patterns to make them look as they are part of.

He uses paper cut outs, rollers so that the boring standard billboard look gets a bit of soul, thus creating a unique artwork that is mindful and fun. The start of the 2000’s gave his a true international recognition, thanks to the social media. Being seen as the Europe’s most inventive art pioneer his attitude against the conventional commercial advertising, gave him the chance to spread his wittiness and humor that is simply splendid.
