A student intern at URBAN NATION

  • by Geneviève Debien

Our student intern Samuel spent a total of two days at the end of March in the URBAN NATION Workspace and in the exhibition TALKING… & OTHER BANANA SKINS: He was not only very motivated, but also very creative!

He tried stenciling, spray painting, and sticker design with ImedART – all offerings that are part of URBAN NATION’s workshop catalog and available for any group to choose from! Read more here.

Next, he practiced how to cut out a stencil using a template and how to apply the different colors here… which also means being really careful when spraying so that the paint doesn’t drag or run!

Also with the stickers it went to the fine work with ImedART: letter and foil design to be able to take a great colorful sticker at the end!

He spent the second day in the exhibition TALKING… & OTHER BANANA SKINS and gave his feedback on the offers available to visitors:

After an introduction, he received the audio guide – by the way, there is also the brand new audio guide URBAN BANANA SOUNDS, developed and produced by and with young people. Well prepared for the exhibition topics, from the façade to the individual eight chapters, he was able to try out the QUIZ and give his suggestions. In the end, he even designed the basics for a rally in the exhibition TALKING… & OTHER BANANA SKINS.

At the end of the internship, Samuel expressed his views as follows.
“Urban Nation is an inspiring place.
Whether in the workshops or in the museum, you are entertained for hours and it never gets boring.
The workshops are very interesting and teach interesting street art techniques.
The staff are totally friendly and nice and welcomed me with warmth.”
